Nowadays there are SO many toxic chemicals in our everyday products, but to us it’s normal. If I could have a home FILLED with all natural products from oils extracted from plants grown from the ground, especially after learning about Co-Impact Sourcing from doTERRA – who would NOT want that? Especially with my two boys at home!
Ahhh, Deep Blue.
This was the very first product I ever tried from doTERRA, and funny enough, I never knew what company it belonged to for the longest time! During my yoga teacher training, we were required to attend a certain amount of classes from the instructors and get it signed off to show we attended. I always attended Kilty Inafuku’s classes on Sunday morning before our trainings because she knows how to teach a power yoga class in such a non intimidating way that STILL kicks your ass. One morning, at the end during savasana, we’re all laying there with our eyes closed and limbs taking up space, relaxing. Kilty came around with Deep Blue Rub and massaged it into the back of our necks and shoulders and OH MY GOD…
It reminded me of Tiger Balm, but it was ten times better. Immediately I asked Kilty what in the world the magic she used on us was, and she said it was given to her as a gift from one of her students. A few months went by before I researched and realized it was from doTERRA (which I also had never heard of at this point.)
I had a few friends who were representatives of doTERRA but for one reason or another, I never ended up buying Deep Blue.
Months later, after becoming friends with Dalea Faulkner from That Crazy Oil Lady, and trying the samples she sent me of various products, INCLUDING Deep Blue, I knew I needed these products in my life. I used the rub on Shawns shoulders when he came home from work one evening and even HE was sold! Right away he asked me how much it costs and how soon we can get it delivered!
After talking to Dalea, I learned all about being a wholesale customer or wellness advocate and I started researching more and more about the company. I learned that in addition to supplying the highest quality of essential oils, doTERRA is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of farmers, harvesters, and distillers who contribute to doTERRA’s oil production.
With over 100 essential oils in its product line, doTERRA sources its oils from over 40 countries —more than half of which could be considered developing countries. To ensure that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically, doTERRA has introduced an initiative called Co-Impact Sourcing.
Now here is where my heart strings were yanked…
Co-Impact Sourcing is an initiative that seeks to develop long-term, mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainable jobs and providing reliable income in underdeveloped areas. doTERRA is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. Growers and harvesters are encouraged to form cooperative groups to share collective benefits and bargaining power while improving skills and capacity.
I read all of this info aloud to Shawn while he was playing his XBox and nodding along in acknowledgement as I continued to explain how the oils are actually extracted and what all the product benefits were. He could tell how excited and passionate I was about all this and he asked, “Why is this SO fascinating to you?” and I explained it pretty simply. Ya know, WAAAAY back in the day, before medicines we have now existed, we used plants. We used resources we were given by the earth we live on. Nowadays there are SO many toxic chemicals in our everyday products, but to us it’s normal. If I could have a home FILLED with all natural products from oils extracted from plants grown from the ground, especially after learning about Co-Impact Sourcing – who would NOT want that? Especially with my two boys at home!
Finally around my birthday in April, I ordered the Family Essentials Oil kit, OF COURSE I got my hands on Deep Blue, and now my entire house is filled with oily products; from our laundry detergent, shower gel and shampoo, to first aid and even my and my childrens supplements!
These oils have become such a staple in my families life, and I plan on sharing more about the specific oils, blends and their uses in the mix of my hustling and parenting articles.
